Hawkmoth - geode

$195.00

13” wide x 8” tall.

Hawkmoths are members of the Sphingidae family, and are named for their swift, hovering flight patterns. Hawkmoths pollinate flowers such as petunias and orchids. Perhaps the most famous Hawkmoth is Xanthopan morganii praedicta, who was predicted to exist by Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace to pollinate the Madagascar orchid. This Hawkmoth is unique because the eye spots on its wings are made with natural geodes. The milky swirls of the geodes are mesmerizing in the light. Made with high quality materials and handmade glass made in the USA. One of a kind and created by hand in Houston, Texas. A mix of translucent, opaque, and mottled glass encased in solder. Black solder. Measures 13” wide x 8” tall. Polished.
